About Preventing Nosebleeds in Winter

If you have an allergy bedding can accompany it. Colds, allergies as well as dry air are factors which can lead to nosebleeds during the winter. If people are constantly blowing their nose, or if their nose becomes too dry, then the nasal linings may become very irritated and result in nosebleeds. However, you can prevent the nosebleeds, or decrease the frequency, even during cold, dry months. Prevent colds by taking usual precautions. Wash hands regularly, especially before your eating and then after using the bathroom, or when you come into contact with the things that sick people have touched, like door knobs or the telephones. Get enough rest as well as vitamin C. If you come down with colds, get a lot of fluid and rest. A decongestant can usually be helpful as well. Blow your nose gently, not forcefully. Remind children not to pick their noses, as this can lead to nosebleeds as well. For the allergies, the same thing will apply when you blow—dont use force! Be very gentle. Also, try eliminating as many of your allergens as you can. Control the dust and the pet dander; consider getting HEPA filters and then keep the house very clean.
