Education
The Greater Valley Area is committed to excellence in education, realizing that for its children to compete in today’s global climate, they must have a quality education. The Chambers County Board of Education works hard to ensure that the quality of education that its children receive is of the highest standards. There is also a commitment to seeing that area citizens, both young and old, who have special needs, have an educational opportunity.
There are a variety of educational choices for area residents, both public and private.
The Chambers County School system is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. College preparatory and career technical paths are available for all students. Children that reside in Quail Run and Riverside Estates are zoned to attend Huguley Elementary. Children who live in any of the three apartment communities at the Venue are zoned for LaFayette Lanier Elementary. All communities are zoned for W.F. Burns Middle School and Valley High School.
Springwood School, an independent college preparatory private school serving K4-12, is located in Lanett, Alabama, and is adjacent to Riverside Estates. The dually accredited SACS and SAIA, school provides a Christian environment offering integrated technology and interactive learning through promethean boards and tablet computers. Students consistently achieve high test scores and experience 100% college placement.
A local campus of Southern Union State Community College is located in Valley, Alabama.
A local campus of Columbus State University is located in West Point, Georgia.
Valley Haven School, a school for infants, toddlers and adults who are mentally challenged and/or developmentally delayed is located in Valley, Alabama.
Library
The H. Grady Bradshaw Library, centrally located in Valley, Alabama, is well stocked with books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, computers with internet access and more. The Chambers County Library System offers a wide variety of programs and services such as storytime for the children, Lunch and Learn and the Library Travelers for adults and movie nights for the whole family. The Bradshaw Library is also home to the Cobb Memorial Archives which are filled with great documents and artifacts from the past.
Hospital
Lanier Memorial Hospital has been serving the health needs of the Greater Valley Area since 1950. The 115-bed hospital has recently renovated the emergency room, built a new outpatient surgical wing and added a Women’s Center. Forty-five physicians are currently on staff at Lanier Memorial Hospital. Lanier Health Services also includes a 103-bed full-service Nursing Home and the Lanier Home Health Services.
In addition to the medical doctors, the Greater Valley Area has a full range of dentists, pharmacies, eye care professionals and assisted living facilities.
Area Transportation
Located adjacent to I-85, The Greater Valley Area is ideally situated for new and growing industries. Two state capitals, Montgomery, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia are respectively 1 and 1.5 hours away. There are two major US Highways – US 29, which runs through the heart of the Valley, and nearby US 431. The area is also connected by several state highways.
Access to air travel is abundant! Valley is only 75 miles southwest of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 85 miles northeast of Montgomery Regional Airport-Dannelly Field Airport.
